About Jeff

Born and raised in San Jose, California, Jeff attended 菠菜网lol正规平台 and received a BS. in Biological Sciences. He continued his education by attending the University of California, Riverside earning both an MS. and Ph.D. in entomology and later pursuing postdoctoral work at the University of Wageningen (the Netherlands) and through the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Research Fellowship program at Kyushu University (Japan). It was during these postdoctoral opportunities that he was also hired as a 菠菜网lol正规平台 lecturer where he discovered his passion for teaching and was subsequently hired as an Assistant Professor.

His research is primarily in the areas of insect ecology and taxonomy and focuses on biological control and forensic entomology. He has taught 18 different courses in the Department of Biological Sciences but cites General Entomology, Insects and Human Welfare, and Forensic Entomology as course favorites. His administrative career began as department chair for the Department of Biological Sciences with a short stint as the Interim Associate Dean of Research in the College of Science before coming to the College of Graduate Studies to serve as Associate Dean of Graduate Programs.
